James Stewart Out for 2008 Supercross Season With Knee Injury
May 25

What was he thinking today (May 25, 2008) during the second moto?? Yellow flags were vigorously waved while emergency crews are working on a fellow racer. Eric Sorby is lying on the ground, not moving after a nasty wreck on the step ups on the back side of the treacherous Glen Helen track. He had cased the hill and landed hard being propelled into the fence line. Bubba was well in the lead but did not head the yellow flags and slow down. During one of his laps, he came over the same step up and almost took out the flag man who was telling him to slow down, kicking dirt onto the down racer and emergency team. I could not believe my eyes.

Bubba, you are looked to by many as a leader in motocross. You set the tone. By you not slowing down, neither did the other competitors. Even if they had not followed your lead it would not have been hard for you to pass them back up again on the other side of the accident and you would have done the right thing. Why couldn’t you slow down????? Is winning more important than human life????? You know people say bad things about Chad Reed, but at least he is a good sportsmen and is safe on the track. You should be suspended again for that careless and dangerous behavior.

No one is hating. There is a sense of repsonsibility that comes with being a leader…especially when people of all ages look up to you. True, MX is a tough sport…but so is football, and I remember having to take my helmet off and take a knee when a player was down. It’s called, RESPECT AND COMMON COURTESY.

I just bought a bike (YZ250), and I’m just now learning about James Stewart, and I’m very proud of him.

Hell, I’m 33 years old, and I look up to him…not only as a fellow Floridian, but as an African American male - he’s a young man who dares to be different.

Having said that, remember…there is a sense of responsibility…people look up to you, James. Remember that….

You know you call out james on this but look at every other rider that does the same its because its racing…. to be the first one across the finish line…
